Caring for metal garden furniture

Caring for your metal garden furniture will depend on the actual material it is made from.

Many wrought iron and steel tables and chairs will be treated with an anti-rust protective coating by your chosen manufacturer, requiring little ongoing maintenance. Generally all this will need is an occasional wipe with a damp cloth, followed by buffing to regain the original finish.

Before storing away or covering your metal furniture for the winter, check that the coating has not been damaged. If any bubbling has formed or if there is evidence of rust, it is recommended that you sand the affected area and find a suitable enamel paint in a matching colour to retouch the exposed metal *.
